NY Brothers could Lose Mother to Cancer, have Dad Sent Back to Mexico

News 12 Brooklyn

BROWNSVILLE -Two young brothers could lose their mother to cancer and have their father sent back to Mexico at the end of August.

Christian and Daniel Barragan, 13 and 10, were born in New York. Their mother, Maria Paxtor, has been diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. She has been battling the disease for the last 12 years, and doctors say her days are limited.

Benjamin, her husband and the boys’ father, was granted a humanitarian visa to care for his ailing wife, but he must to return to Mexico once that expires.

The family is facing the possibility that the kids may soon be without both of their parents.

The attorney who helped the father secure that temporary visa tells News 12 that it’s only valid for 60 days, and is set to expire on Aug. 25.
